Privacy Policy

This policy describes the information collected during a visit, the reasons it is used, and the limited situations in which another party may receive it. By continuing to use Union County Criminal History, you accept these privacy practices.

Data You Give Us Directly

Search Queries

A name or place entered into a search box is sent to the outside provider that operates that tool. The provider processes the request and supplies its result. Union County Criminal History does not keep a separate log of those search terms.

Messages and Contact Submissions

Messages sent to us may be retained long enough to respond and maintain the related correspondence. They are not disclosed outside the organization unless the law requires disclosure.

Data We Gather Automatically

Basic technical and usage details may be recorded when a page loads:

  • The IP address assigned to your device
  • Which browser you are using and its version
  • Your device type and operating system
  • The pages you visited and how long you stayed on each
  • The site that sent you here, if any
  • Timestamps for each page view

Cookies and Analytics

Cookies are small files placed on a device. Together with analytics services, they help show aggregate traffic patterns, popular pages, and where visits end. Browser controls can reject cookies, although blocking them may change how some functions behave.

What We Do With This Data

  • Route a submitted search to the provider that handles it
  • Maintain site availability, performance, and security
  • Identify technical faults and repair them
  • Measure which resources visitors use
  • Display advertising that may reflect visitor interests

No Criminal-Record Data on File

Union County Criminal History does not keep, compile, or sell a database of personal criminal records. It identifies official routes such as Union County courts, the sheriff, South Carolina Law Enforcement Division, and the South Carolina Sex Offender Registry Tool. Visitor data is not assembled into a consumer report, and this website is not a consumer reporting agency under the Fair Credit Reporting Act.

Third-Party Search Partners

Outside companies provide the search tools. Their own privacy policies control any information submitted through a tool, including retention and disclosure practices. Review the applicable provider policy before entering a search.

Links to Other Websites

Links may lead to a sheriff, court, state office, legal organization, or commercial provider. Once a visitor leaves this website, the destination's privacy terms apply. Those terms should be checked before personal information is supplied.

Advertising partners may use their own systems to measure activity across websites and choose interest-based ads.

Who Might See Your Data

We do not sell personal information. Data may be available to:

  • Search partners that handle queries you run on our site
  • Analytics services we use to track traffic and performance
  • Ad networks that place ads on our pages
  • Law enforcement or government bodies when a valid legal order requires it

How We Protect Your Data

Reasonable security practices are used to protect collected information. No internet system can guarantee perfect protection, so a breach or unauthorized access cannot be ruled out.

Users Under 18

This resource is intended for adults and does not knowingly collect personal data from anyone under 18. A verified request concerning a minor's information will be handled by deleting the data when appropriate.

Your Data Rights

South Carolina consumer protections, including the South Carolina Unfair Trade Practices Act, S.C. Code §§ 39-5-10 through 39-5-560, may apply based on the facts. Subject to applicable law, a visitor may:

  • Ask for a copy of what we have on file about you
  • Have us fix information that is wrong
  • Request that we erase your data
  • Opt out of certain kinds of data processing
